Photophysics of xanthene dyes in surfactant solution.

چکیده
The spectral (both absorption and fluorescence) and photoelectrochemical studies of some anionic xanthene dyes namely erythrosine B, rose bengal and eosin have been carried out in micellar solution of cationic cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), anionic sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and neutral triton X-100 (TX-100). The results show that all these dyes form 1:1 electron-donor-acceptor (EDA) or charge-transfer (CT) complexes with TX-100, which acts as an electron donor. There is no interaction of these dyes with SDS, whereas the interaction with CTAB is mainly electrostatic in nature. In presence of TX-100, these dyes show enhancement of fluorescence intensity with a red shift and develop photovoltage in a photoelectrochemical cell. A good correlation has been found among the photovoltage generation in the systems consisting of these dyes and TX-100, spectral shift due to complex formation and thermodynamic properties of these complexes.

Thermodynamic investigation of the interaction between Mono-s-chloroTriazinyl MCT Reactive Dyes and cetylpyridinium chloride inaqueous solution
The interactions two synthetic triazinyl reactive dyes Mono-s-chloro Triazinyl reactive dyes DI and DII with the cationic surfactant N-hexadecyl pyridinium chloride CPC were studied using a conductometric method in 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45ºC. The equilibrium constants and other thermodynamic parameters for the ion pair formation were calculated on the basis of a theoretical model using the data ob...
متن کاملAdsorption removal of pollutants (triphenylmethane and xanthene dyes) from water by charfines and activated carbon
The adsorption removal of Triphenylmethane & Xanthene dyes onto a low-cost coal based adsorption (Charfines) and its efficiency in dye colour sorption was compared with activated carbon (F-400). Batch studies were performed and the results revealed that Charfines demonstrated on ability to adsorb the reactive Triphenylmethane & Xanthene dyes. The sorption interaction of reactive dye on to Charf...
متن کاملUltrafast excited-state dynamics of eosin B: a potential probe of the hydrogen-bonding properties of the environment.
The photophysics of two dyes from the xanthene family, eosin B (EB), and eosin Y (EY) has been investigated in various solvents by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, first, to clarify the huge disparity of the EB fluorescence lifetimes reported in literature, and, second, to understand the mechanism responsible for the ultrafast excited-state deactivation of EB in water. The excited...
متن کاملPeroxidase-catalyzed co-oxidation of indole-3-acetic acid and xanthene dyes in the absence of hydrogen peroxide.
The effect of xanthene dyes on the chemiluminescence from the aerobic indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) oxidation, catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase (HRP), was studied. The rate of IAA oxidation and dye destruction were controlled. It was found that the addition of dyes to the IAA/HRP/O2 system resulted in: (i) the appearance of emission in the region of dye fluorescence, (ii) an increase of the tot...
متن کاملToxicity of Xanthene Food Dyes by Inhibition of Human Drug-Metabolizing Enzymes in a Noncompetitive Manner
The synthetic food dyes studied were rose bengal (RB), phroxine (PL), amaranth, erythrosine B (ET), allura red, new coccine, acid red (AR), tartrazine, sunset yellow FCF, brilliant blue FCF, and indigo carmine. First, data confirmed that these dyes were not substrates for CYP2A6, UGT1A6, and UGT2B7. ET inhibited UGT1A6 (glucuronidation of p-nitrophenol) and UGT2B7 (glucuronidation of androstero...
